Design and construction of LAN networks. b. Troubleshooting and construction of computer labs. c. Network administration. d. Designing software and troubleshooting software systems.
TAC is responsible for automating the
business management processes and activities for the Detroit Chapter.

the Detroit Chapter website. The website allows our chapter to
communicate with members and the community electronically. Additionally,
the Technology and Automation Committee provides the CTC (Community
Technology Center Committee) with technical assistance with this
project. This committee provides a great opportunity to gain hands-on
experience with emerging technologies, office automation, e-business
technologies and web design. High School Computer CompetitionThe HSCC Committee coordinates student workshops, computer camps, and the High School Computer Competition. The committee provides and implements a structure to educate, train, and establish an ongoing educational program for the community. Also, the committee draws upon the talents of the general membership to provide workshop leaders and lecturers. This committee provides a great opportunity to provide IT training to inner-city youths. This committee plays a key role in the city by developing and mentoring young students in IT. Newsletter CommitteeThe Newsletter Committee is responsible for managing and publishing the chapter newsletter called “THE SPEC”, and publishing press releases. The SPEC is a member and sponsor benefit provided by the chapter. It serves as a key public relations tool. Members benefit from having access to the latest IT, professional and entrepreneurial trends and access to career opportunities that are not openly advertised nationally or throughout the city. Sponsors benefit by being able to target their products, services, and career opportunities to minority IT professionals. The newsletter is distributed to sponsors, members, the National Office, and to each chapter nationwide. Membership CommitteeThe Membership Committee actively
recruits new members and manages the membership database. This committee
hosts membership drives, distributes membership materials, conducts member
surveys, and coordinates new member orientations. The committee hosts the
annual membership meeting, new member orientations, and co-coordinates the
COBO outing with the other Professional Black organizations, such as the
Black MBA Association, National Association of Black Engineers, and
National Association of Black Accountants to name a few. This committee
provides a great opportunity to develop a solid network within the metro
Detroit area among IT professionals and other professionals throughout the
city. Finance CommitteeThe Finance Committee generates revenue to support the organization’s activities, conducts fund-raising affairs, solicits corporate or government grants and other financial support. This committee provides a great opportunity to build fundraising skills and develop relationships with key business, government, and community leaders and organizations through the City and Nationally. |
